Police arrested an 18-year-old Lowell Street man today in connection with a series of car fires set on Highland Avenue and Aberdeen Road yesterday morning.

Scott R. Nichols is accused of setting four cars on fire in the area of 270 Highland Avenue. The fire from one of the cars spread to an apartment building and caused some damage, police said. No injuries have been reported.

Nichols allegedly left his cell phone in one of the cars he set on fire. Police said he also made an incriminating statement in an interview. He was arrested and charged with arson, breaking and entering and burning a motor vehicle.
