Somerville man arrested following drug lab investigation

Somerville Police have arrested a Somerville man in connection with an investigation of an alleged drug lab that was operating in Somerville.  Grigory Genkin, age 29, a resident of the second floor at 19 Oxford Street turned himself in to Somerville Police, accompanied by his attorney.  Genkin is charged with 1) Manufacturing / Distribution of Methamphetamine,  2) Drug violation near a School Zone and 3) Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act.  He will be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Monday morning.  Further details will be revealed at his arraignment.

On November 7, Somerville Detectives, Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force investigators and Massachusetts State Police executed a search warrant at 19 Oxford Street in Somerville.  In a day long search of the dwelling, Investigators recovered evidence that this location was being utilized for the production of methamphetamine.  A large amount of materials believed to be hazardous were removed from the property by haz-mat specialists.  Other items believed to be dangerous were detonated by State Police Bomb Squad technicians. Chief Thomas Pasquarello expressed his gratitude to the neighborhood community for their cooperation and support during the past week.  This continues to be an active investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact Somerville Police.
