Welcome to Café Armory, where the elite (and the rest of us) meet to eat.

Take a spin down to the new café at the armory, and take a bite out of some delicious sandwiches, cinnamon buns and cake. After years of licensing and permitting acquisition, the café at the armory is now set up for business, working out its menu, and inviting lecturers and poets for stage performances.

Deborah McLaughlin, Executive Director of the non-profit Arts at the Armory, called the opening a completion of the vision originally conceived for the castle-like structure, as “community gathering place” and “hub of artistic activity.” A stage sits with a piano and podium for musicians, poets, and speakers that are all allowed to visit and commune with the people of the neighborhood.

For a local café, the place offers delicious pecan cinnamon buns, oozing with flavor, fresh chicken salad sandwiches and other dishes of fresh ingredients and an arrayed and equally satisfying coffee bar. The café also has a beer and wine license courtesy of Dali restaurant, and offers fine wine and beer as well.

Managed by the capable hands of Laura Sargent and Danny Kallis, late of the Davis Square Businessman’s association and the Rosebud diner, the café is now open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The sunlit proud café stands for all comers as a paradigm of community artistry. Come by and have a bite. You won’t regret it.
