At about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, Somerville Police responded to 10 Illinois Avenue for a report of gunshots.  Upon the arrival of police, they discovered a 35 year old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the front porch.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where his wounds were determined to be non-life threatening.  Police also discovered a parked vehicle that had also been struck by a single gunshot.

Somerville Police and State Police Crime Scene Investigators gathered evidence throughout the night and continued their investigation throughout the weekend.  Detectives learned from the evidence that there were shots fired from two different caliber weapons.  As the investigation continued, with the help of cooperating witnesses, detectives were able to obtain the identity of the first suspect.   Early Monday morning, Detective Paul Duffy obtained an arrest warrant for Fonge Pierre, age 32 of Chelsea for (1) armed assault with intent to murder, (2) assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, (3) unlawful possession of a firearm and (4) discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.  With the assistance of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, State Police and Chelsea Police, detectives were able to locate Pierre in Chelsea and placed him under arrest.  He was also charged with an outstanding warrant for unrelated drug charges in Everett.

Detectives also located and identified a second suspect in Chelsea.  He was arrested by State Police on unrelated drug charges.  Somerville Detective Duffy obtained an arrest warrant Somerville Court on Tuesday morning charging him in connection with the Somerville shooting incident.   His identity will be withheld until he has been formally charged.

Chief Thomas Pasquarello expressed his appreciation to both residents and the law enforcement agencies who assisted Somerville Police with identifying and locating these subjects.  “This is an excellent example of the community and police working together to solve crimes”, said Chief Pasquarello.

Forge Pierre is expected to be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Tuesday morning.  The second suspect has just been arrested in Chelsea and will likely be in Somerville District Court later today.  No photos are available at this time.
