Reports of an angry man knocking over trash cans, tipping over flower pots, and physically assaulting people were called in to Somerville police last week.

One victim reported being punched in the side by the man, although he was not seriously injured, police said.

Another witness observed the man, later identified as Joel Casanova, 33, of Dorchester, kick over a trash can and thump the trunk of a car as he made his way down Highland Avenue, according to police.

Responding officers caught up with Casanova, who reportedly smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct and assault and battery.
