Somerville police responded to a report of suspicious activity at Trina’s Starlite Lounge on Beacon Street in the early hours of last Wednesday.

Upon arrival, police reportedly spotted three men preparing to put empty beer kegs and cases of empty beer bottles into a car. The car was approximately ten feet from the curb, and on the sidewalk there were four empty beer kegs and approximately 23 cases of empty beer bottles according to police. A shopping cart full of boxes containing empty beer bottles was also found nearby, police said.

One of the men, the driver of the car, reportedly explained that the others flagged him down while he was on the way to the bakery. He also reportedly said that they asked him to help them transport the property. He said that he casually knew the defendants and agreed to transport the property, according to police.

A neighbor reportedly told police that he had heard voices in the building. Investigating officers reportedly found that the locked hasp on the door to the building behind Trina’s had been ripped away from the door jam, and that the door was open. The light inside the building was alight, police said.

Nilson Veloza, 44, and Richard Dapedra, 34, both of Cambridge, were arrested and charged with night time breaking and entering for a felony.
