Police were summoned to a College Avenue apartment complex in the wee hours of the morning last Saturday on a report that an unwanted man had locked himself into a common area of the building, according to reports.
Police say that residents of the building told them that the intruder had entered, uninvited, and took over the TV room, refusing to allow anyone else to enter.
Officers at the scene reportedly attempted to talk the man into unlocking the door but he refused to do so, asking them to just go away. The door was eventually kicked open and the man asked, “how do I know you are police officers?” – even though they were fully uniformed at the time, according to police.
The man was escorted outside, where he reportedly became highly belligerent and shouted profanities at the investigating officers, who felt that the man was highly intoxicated and not making any sense.
Sean Nelson, 29, of Medford, was then taken into custody and charged with felony nighttime breaking and entering, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
