Mayor Joseph Curtatone, the City of Somerville, and Veteran’s Services conducted a long awaited and well deserved street dedication this past Saturday afternoon to honor the seven Ciampa brothers of Somerville. The brothers were born and raised at 66 Pearl Street in Somerville, five of which became veterans of WWII, one of Korea, and one who became a well known local doctor.

The square will honor Ottavio, WWII Army; Dante, WWII coast Guard; Albert, WWII and Korea Navy; Ubanldi, WWII Army; Robert, WWII Navy; Edward, Korea Army’ and Dr. Frank Ciampa MD, a distinguished surgeon and a physician here in Somerville for 45 years.

The ceremony took place at the Corner of Pearl and Myrtle Streets before a well-attended crowd of family, friends, and veterans.

The Ciampa family also had two daughters, Carmela and Eleanor, that totaled nine children. They  were born born and bred on Pearl Street.

Former Somerville Alderman and State Representative Vincent Ciampa was in attendance as his late father Frank Ciampa and late and surviving uncles were honored.
