The Somerville High School Scholarship Foundation Engraved Brick Campaign is now upon us.

The foundation invites community members to purchase a memorial brick.  Each brick will be permanently engraved with the names of families, students, alumni, teachers and friends.  They will grace the walkway leading to the atrium entrance of Somerville High School.

Order tax-deductible personalized brick(s) for yourself, for your family, or to celebrate momentous occasions such as birthdays, as well as simply for recognition.

The proceeds will be utilized to fund scholarships to help Somerville High School graduates to achieve their collegiate or post-secondary training aspirations.

“Our goal is to sell as many memorial bricks as possible. The people of Somerville have been incredibly generous over the years in assisting us [to provide] scholarships,” said Joe Favaloro, Vice President of the Somerville High School Scholarship Foundation.

At least $100 from the sale of each brick will be used toward scholarships.

The memorials will provide a lasting commemoration of the community spirit and generosity of each person who supports the students.

Greater than 80 scholarships per year are awarded to students.  “To date, the foundation has distributed over $1 million in scholarships. Hopefully, the brick fundraiser will allow us, over time, to add to [those] impressive numbers,” he said.

The foundation is constantly seeking “ways of raising funds for scholarships. Every May, we hold our annual raffle. Over the past year, we met and agreed upon the brick fundraiser,” said Favaloro.
