Former Boston Bruin and retired Montreal Canadian Christopher John Nilan enjoyed a fun filled day as a guest fishing aboard The Somerville News boat “Marisa” that sailed out of Somerville’s Winter Hill Yacht Club early Thursday morning.

The hockey great was in town to catch the Bruins game and later went fishing the next morning to  celebrate the team’s victorious win of 4-0 over the Canucks in game 4 of the Stanly Cup Playoffs.

Christopher John Nilan, a retired professional ice hockey player. Nilan played 688 NHL regular season games as a right wing for the Montreal Canadians, Boston Bruins, and New York Rangers between 1980 and 1992. He won the Stanley Cup in 1986 with Montreal. Known as “Knuckles,” he was famous for his propensity to fight.

Nilan just finished filming a documentary here in Somerville earlier this month and he is working on his new book which should hit the book shelves early next year. Nilan is also ex-son-in-law to the infamous Whitey Bulger. You can visit Chris online at http://www.knucklesnilan.com/
