Tuesday April 5 marks the six-year anniversary of Senator Charlie Shannon’s passing, hard to believe he’s been gone that long, he was a good guy to all those who both he knew and didn’t know, he liked everyone. Unlike the present senator who only likes those that agree with her leftist liberal thinking, would be nice to have someone like Charlie again back in office.

Speaking of Charlie Shannon, today Wednesday marks the anniversary of the bill that passed called The Shannon Grant, again this fiscal year funded, it’s an “anti gang grant” named in Charles honor for his years as State Senator and before that as a Police Officer.

We hear that the McGrath Highway overpass will be demolished by 2014 to make that entire area part of the extended Union Square District. Traffic will flow through a rotary so that life will be brought back to normal in that area that was effected over 50 years ago with the constructions of the existing McGrath Highway wiped out a lot of homes that existed in its path. Would definitely be a nice addition to the Square and the city without this major ugly road there.

Our hearts and prayer are with the Cremin Family of Winter Hill whom 16 years ago now, Deanna Cremin murderer still hasn’t been found, the Police Department still has it listed as an active case. It would be nice to have some resolution in this matter with the person who did this crime being found, convicted and sent away. If you have any information no matter how small call the Somerville Police.

Lots of times we take our postal workers for granted sometimes not realizing how much we depend on their services. So we would like to do a shout out to our own Mary Ellen Ford that works out of the Union Square branch she also goes above and beyond with it comes to serving and satisfying her postal customers we congratulate her with a job well done.

Still no return of Cindy Hickey to the Council on Aging, we hear that Lady J is still there and we have kept a count of the papers, none missing so that’s good. Regarding the investigation we hear it’s pretty much through but no word is leaking out yet. Speaking of Lady J, it was interesting getting an anonymous copy of the bankruptcy filing by lady J and her husband Demo Man, quite a few local people and businesses took a hit with them filing.

Next week in the News we will be having a new addition to the paper, which will be of interests to a lot of people here in the city, look for it.
