Life in the Ville by Jimmy Del Ponte
Are you kidding me? An earthquake! Last week we experienced a 4.1 earthquake. I thought it was the guys upstairs’ washing machine. I’ve collected peoples’ comments on what they were doing and what they thought the rumbling was.
“My hubby thought it was the washer. Too bad I was sleeping.”
“Never heard or felt in concord, Elyse didn’t either in Chelmsford. But her friend that only lives 10 minutes away in Westford heard and felt it. I definitely felt it here at home. At first I thought it was just the commuter rail but then I felt the house shake and my glasses were clanging!”
“Home. My entire house shook. I thought it was an earthquake, turns out it was.”
“I thought my dog knocked something over. Then remembered my dog was at the vet’s.”
“I was in bed … and the bed vibrated for a couple of seconds.”
“I live so near the commuter rail that it was hard to distinguish one from the other since the train shakes the house a lot.”
“I thought it was a combo of wind and the commuter rail train coming by to W. Medford”
“I was sitting in my apartment and it just about moved the apartment and it shocked all my windows. We thought it was an earthquake because we have many earthquakes all year. It was just down the street from my apartment building. I do live in York, Maine.”
“Didn’t even feel it.”
“I thought it was the commuter rail going by. I live in Braintree very close to the Weymouth T stop.”
“I slept through it.”
At least we know a lot of people sleep in pretty late. Thankfully no one was hurt and it gave us something to talk about for a few days.
