Obituary: Florence E. McWatters

November 3, 1936 – December 29, 2024

Florence E.  (Kennedy)  McWatters, a lifelong resident of Somerville for over 88 years, passed away peacefully on Dec 29, 2024, in the beautiful surroundings of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Born and raised in Somerville she was the daughter of late Florence (Graham) Kennedy and John E. Kennedy both of Somerville. 

Florence was the loving mother to Robert McWatters of Somerville, Carolyn (Sissy) Ankenbauer and her husband Robert Ankenbauer of Billerica, Kevin McWatters and his wife Karen of Somerville , Marylynn O’Malley and her husband Tim of Booth Bay, ME and lastly her loving cat named, Eve

She was the former wife of Robert (Bucky) McWatters.

Florence was the sister to the late John Kennedy of Quincy and his wife Elizabeth and Margaret (Honey) Kennedy of Medford. She was the beloved Grandma to Bobby, Shawn, Kevin, Jacqueline and Bobby and the great Grandma to Colin, Maddie, Landon, Angelo, Gavin and Anthony. She loved her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Florence held several occupations over her lifetime, first at New England Bell company in Boston, the Somerville Public Schools in the luncheon programs and then at Somerville Hospital as a switchboard operator and patient information desk. During her retirement days she proudly helped others in recovery programs. Above all, Florence was devoted to her family and had a deep love for her Heavenly Father and she spread the good news anyway she could.

In keeping with Florence’s wishes, funeral services and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden will be held privately.
