Life in the Ville by Jimmy Del Ponte
If you’re a Somerville resident like me, we have a lot to be grateful for. I’m grateful that there aren’t more bad roads, construction and detours. Personally, I’m grateful for my reasonably good health. I ‘m glad my kids’ grandmother is still with us and more importantly with it. I’m glad I can pay my parking tickets over the phone. I just can’t get that street cleaning schedule down.
I’m grateful that my primary care doctor within walking distance from my house.
I’m grateful that I was around for Johnny D’s.
I’m thankful for my car’s remote starter and heated seats. I’m thankful for METV which broadcasts vintage TV shows. I’m grateful for my trusty washing machine we bought at Sears 35 years ago.
I’m grateful for everyday McKinnon’s Market stays open. I’m thankful that I can use the remote without looking at it. I’m grateful that I got to enjoy The Venice Cafe and Kay and Chips restaurants.
I’m especially grateful for the memories I have of friends I lost recently, Bobby, Peter, Richie. And Kenny. Happy Thanksgiving.
