Sok For Soldiers

On March 15, 2011, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

Saint Clement School announced today that the students,  faculty and staff are pinching in to help the soldiers in Afghanistan. On Thursday, March 17, at 9:30 a.m., Taylor Laffey and her sister, Christine, will be at Saint Clement School to talk to Saint  Clement Students, faculty and staff and to leave sock drop-off boxes to collect socks for soldiers in Afghanistan.

Taylor Laffey is a senior at Latin High School in Boston. Her older brother, Lance  Corporal Scott Laffey is serving in Afghanistan. She learned that many Marines and other servicemen deployed overseas are in desperate need of socks. She started a campaign to collect  socks for these servicemen whose socks are soaked after dealing with flash flooding. Ms. Laffey’s story was first reported, last week by WBZ-TV, Channel 4, Boston.

Please join the Saint Clement’s school community in making this “Soks for Soldiers” successful. For more information on donating athletic socks, must be new, packaged, either white or gray and calf length so that the socks go up the full length of the soldiers’ boots, please call John M. Licciardi at 781.393.5600, x19 or email jlicciardi@saintclementschool.org.
