The Arts at the Armory is pleased to announce a series of events named Boston Storyslam by The Moth, which began on January 23 with the theme “Wonders”. On the fourth Tuesday of every month, come by and participate in a community-focused, open-mic storytelling competition, where anyone can share a five-minute story that is based around the theme of the night.
The dates and themes of each Boston Storyslam are:
February 27th: Chemistry
April 23: Grudge
May 21: Backfired
June 25: Baggage
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the night of each event and the Arts at the Armory bar will serve up house-made appetizers along with wine, beer, and snacks. Stories will officially begin at 7:30pm.
The Moth, founded by novelist George Dawes Green and launched in 1997, is an organization that promotes storytelling, along with honoring the diversity and similarity of human experiences. The Moth showcases a wide range of human experiences, and since each show starts with a theme, each storyteller can often tell stories that is not just unexpected, but unique to themselves. The Moth, alongside organizing shows, has also published four books: The Moth: 50 True Stories, All These Wonders: True Stories about Facing the Unknown, and The New York Times Best Sellers, Occasional Magic: True Stories About Defying the Impossible and How to Tell a Story: The Essential Guide to Memorable Storytelling from The Moth.
