Somerville’s annual multicultural arts showcase, ArtBeat, returns to Davis Square on Saturday, July 15 (rain date: July 16). Now in its 37th year, ArtBeat features an eclectic mix of music, dance, theater, food, performance, and activities. Come enjoy nearly 100 vendors and community groups, two stages of music, and a dance showcase at the Somerville Theater, all inspired by this year’s theme: Pulse. ArtBeat runs from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. throughout Davis Square. Attendance is free, but a suggested donation of $3 will get you an ArtBeat dog tag. Somerville Police are warning residents of Wards 2 and 3 that there have been multiple incidents of an unknown male breaking into homes between 12:00 and 6:00 a.m. by entering through unlocked first-floor windows. Residents are urged to lock all windows (and doors) overnight, particularly those on the first floor. Residents are also urged to call police if they see anything unusual in their neighborhood such as loitering; persons in driveways or yards who should not be there; and any other suspicious behavior. This activity is occurring in large part along the Beacon St. corridor along the city limits of Cambridge.

Hot weather is a good time to visit a splashpad in one of the Somerville parks. In addition to the two outdoor pools in Somerville, many parks have water spray features, ranging from simple single heads, to overhead misters, to larger water play elements.
