The Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) Nutrition program is distributing free farmers’ market coupons for eligible older adults in July. Available through the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture, the coupon booklets can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at area farmers’ markets.
The booklets normally have $25 of coupons, but that has been increased to $50 for 2023 and 2024 through a generous grant.
Applicants must be Cambridge or Somerville residents who are age 60 or older, or disabled and living in elderly housing with a congregate meal program. They must also meet the following income eligibility:
Household of 1, income less than or equal to $2, 248 per month/$26,973 per year
Household of 2, income less than or equal to $3,041 per month/ $36,482 per year
Income is self-declared, do not bring proof of income
Coupon booklets are limited to one per person, while supplies last. Coupons are available on the following dates:
July 10 – 9:30-1:30 at SCES, 61 Medford Street, Somerville; sign up required
July 11- 11:30-1:00 – 9 New Washington Street, Somerville; first come, first serve
July 12 9:30-12:30 – 167 Holland Street, Somerville; first come, first serve
July 13: 9:00-11:00 at SCES, 61 Medford Street, Somerville; sign up required
July 14 9:00-11:00 at 806 Mass Ave in Cambridge; first come, first serve
July 14: 1:00-3:00 at 2050 Mass Ave in Cambridge; first come, first serve
Booklets must be picked up in person. Identification with proof of address and date of birth is required to receive the coupons.

If the resident cannot come to a distribution site, they can send someone with a proxy form. Contact the SCES Nutrition Department for more information or a proxy form.
