Dr. Geiser was selected by the Belmont Public Schools as its new Superintendent during a vote on March 29th
The Somerville School Committee announced today that Dr. Jill Geiser, one of the five current finalists for Somerville’s Superintendent of Schools, has removed herself as a finalist as of March 29th. Dr. Geiser was selected by the Belmont School Committee on Wednesday evening to serve as the next Superintendent of the Belmont Public Schools. Dr. Geiser had been scheduled to visit SPS and participate in a public School Committee interview on Tuesday, April 4th.
“I want to thank Dr. Geiser for her genuine interest in the Somerville Public Schools and for sharing her experiences and thoughts with us throughout this process. It speaks to her excellence and her professional experience that she was selected to lead another school district within the Commonwealth, and we as a School Committee wish Dr. Geiser the very best. While we unfortunately will not have the opportunity to continue to work with her on this journey, we have four stellar candidates for the Superintendent of the Somerville Public Schools who we are eager to share with the Somerville community this week,” said Andre Green, Chair of the Somerville School Committee.
