Somerville Police officers were dispatched to a Willow Ave. location last Friday evening on reports of a vehicular hit and run.

Responding officers were advised by Somerville Police Control that a motor vehicle struck two parked cars, left the scene, and turned left onto Highland Ave. The vehicle reportedly had a flat tire and heavy front-end damage.

Arriving officers heard a car driving down Highland Avenue and then saw a purple motor vehicle matching the description with heavy front-end damage and a flat tire. They activated their emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle and asked the driver, identified as Halle Arnold, to step out of the vehicle.

The officers asked Arnold if she would like medical attention, which she declined. They asked her where she was coming from, and she stated that she was coming from a Mexican restaurant in Davis Square, but could not remember its name.

The officers reported that Arnold was unsteady on her feet, had bloodshot eyes, and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her person.

The officers asked Arnold if she consumed any alcoholic beverages, and she reportedly stated that she had one margarita at the Mexican restaurant. She was asked if she had eaten anything that day and she stated that she had eaten a taco at the restaurant and that she had eaten breakfast and lunch that day.

When asked about the damage to the vehicle she was driving, Arnold reportedly stated that she had no idea how it had gotten damaged.

Arnold was subsequently placed under arrest on charges of operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of property damage.
