With storm conditions forecast to worsen overnight, to help provide shelter for unhoused community members, the City and the Somerville Homeless Coalition will open a joint temporary Overnight Warming Center. The shelter, which is for persons experiencing homelessness, will be open Tuesday night, March 14, into Wednesday morning, March 15.
- Location: Upper floor of The Armory building at 191 Highland Avenue.
- Hours open: 6 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 14 to 15
- Walk-ins and pets: Walk-ins are welcome at any time during open hours, and accommodations for guests’ pets are also available.
Direct outreach to unsheltered persons is being conducted. If you see a person experiencing homelessness outside or sheltering in a car during this nor’easter, please call 911 for the quickest assistance by either ambulance, the Fire Department, and/or Police to either offer to get persons to shelter or transport them for any needed medical care.
All are urged to stay warm and stay safe. For more information about cold-weather safety and local resources, please visit somervillema.gov/coldweather.
