Be a part of the selection process for the Somerville Arts Council’s next Artist of the Month.

The Somerville Arts Council (SAC) is looking for the next Artist of the Month. Nominations for Artist of the Month are for Somerville based artists. They want to recognize creators of all artistic disciplines and types (artists, writers, dancers, musicians, etc.) in the community and to spread the word about who they are and what they do. Artists must live, work, or volunteer in Somerville, MA. Nominate someone whose work you admire.

Somerville is a land of talent. Since 2013, the Somerville Arts Council has been featuring a different creative Somervillian each month. 

This series features a different creative Somervillian each month – painters, poets, song writers, you name it! The program is a way to celebrate the enormous wealth of talent in our city, by shining a spotlight on a different creative Somervillian on a regular basis.

SAC features an interview with the Artist of the Month on their website, as well as images of their work. This series is inspired by the Nave Gallery’s “Featured Artist” program, which ran from 2005 to 2009.

Artists are chosen by a panel from a list of nominees. Many of the artists are nominated by the Somerville community through the Arts Council’s website. The nomination process is open year-round and artists are chosen in December and January for the year.
