Richard A. “Dick” Hart of Woburn, formerly of Somerville, died peacefully, at the age of eighty-one, September 12, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. On September 29, 1973, Dick married the love of his life, Mary (Kane) Hart. Their relationship stood the test of time and his 49-year marriage to Mary left a legacy of ten children and twenty grandchildren to whom they were devoted.
Born and raised in Somerville, Dick was a son of the late James and Ferne (Wakeman) Hart. He was educated in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School. For many years Dick worked at Western Electric in Watertown, and then later as a supervisor in shipping and receiving for Somerville Hospital. After his retirement, Dick enjoyed Tuesday walks with his buddies, Sunday breakfast with friends after Mass, and monthly luncheons with high school classmates. He looked forward to yearly Christmas Tree weekends with the grandkids and loved celebrating holidays and events with family.
Dick will be remembered for giving everyone warm hugs, his love of music and dancing, his ability to make people smile, and his generosity. He was a diehard Red Sox fan, an avid reader, a keeper of family history, and proudly supported many charities. Dick had a photographic memory for significant dates and never forgot to acknowledge a special occasion. He was proud of his Irish heritage, but prouder of the family he built with Mary. His favorite title was “Papa”. Spending his time with his loved ones was his top priority.
Dick was a longtime member of the Lexington Minutemen and King Solomon’s Masonic Lodge in Somerville. He was formerly a Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph’s Church, Woburn and St. Ann’s Church, Somerville.
In addition to his wife Mary, Dick is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Kristin Chalifour of New Hampshire, Edward Jordan, his wife Dierdre of Medford, Nancy Jordan of Woburn, Pamela Feffer, her husband Scott of North Reading, Ricky Hart, his wife Jaime of Florida, Tyler Hart, his wife Lauren of Medford, Rachael Hart, her partner Todd Gagnon of Woburn, Maureen Maguire, her husband John of Peabody, Mary Drouin, her husband Jeff of Haverhill. Dear brother of Eugene Hart, his late wife Marilyn of Arlington, James Hart, his wife Myra of Mattapoisett and Joseph Hart, his wife Patricia of Virginia. Proud Papa of Cheryl, Courtney, Nora, her husband Jon, Tim, Molly, Noah, Emma, Ricky, Megan, Melanie, Cody, Lauren, Eddie, Keira, Carri, Ryan, Jack, Allie, Finn and the late Sierra.
