Richard (Dick) F. Johnson of Somerville, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 31, 2022. He was 84.
Born and raised in Somerville. He was the son of the late Frederick T. and Helen E.(Lanagan) Johnson. Dick worked for almost 30 years as a collector for the MBTA. He was able to retire young enough to spend time in Florida and York Beach, Maine with his beloved late wife Helen
(Coughlin) Johnson. Dick loved golf and played as much as he could in his later years right up to the week of his passing. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and spent many hours celebrating their achievements and attending their many activities on and off the field, the court, or the ice.
Beloved husband of the late Helen T. (Coughlin) Johnson. Devoted father of Richard and William Johnson, the late Brian J. Johnson, and the late Barbara (Johnson) Hancock. Loving grandfather of Jennifer, Alicia, Teresa, Rose, Eric, Kelly, Lisa, Kiely, Julia, and Aidan. The brother of the late Herbert and Jean Johnson. Dick is survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. He was especially grateful for the caring, kindness, and love of Karen and Jackie.
A Funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, Monday August 8th at 9:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Catherine’s Church, 179 Summer St. Somerville, Ma 02143. at 10:00AM
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday August 7th from 3:00PM to 6:00PM.
Interment will be private.
