A regional program of Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) that helps adults receive care from friends and family has once again earned the highest accreditation rating from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
The Adult Family Care (AFC) program at SCES recently earned a three-year Accreditation of Case Management for LTSS (Long Term Supports and Services) from NCQA.
Earning NCQA’s Accreditation of Case Management for LTSS demonstrates that an organization is dedicated to coordinating the delivery of care in a person-centered and integrated manner, to help individuals function optimally in their preferred setting.
AFC has held the highest NCQA accreditation rating since 2019. Program Director Nina Cohen said it’s a great affirmation of the program’s commitment to excellence.
“The pandemic created many new challenges over the past couple of years, but our team never wavered in our dedication to helping AFC families provide the best care at home,” said Cohen. “We are committed to providing the best support, and it means a lot to see that recognized by the NCQA.”
NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. It accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations, and also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance.
AFC staff works diligently to ensure that older adults and people with disabilities are able to live in a supportive family setting that fosters the best quality of life for themselves and their caregivers. AFC serves eligible adults who cannot live alone due to a medical diagnosis, helping adults receive care at home by providing compensation, training, and ongoing support for friend or family caregivers.
AFC regularly receives outstanding reviews from the families it serves. In the most recent AFC consumer satisfaction survey, people receiving care through the program gave AFC the highest possible rating on 85% of responses.
Adult Family Care serves more than 200 families across the Greater Boston, North Shore, and Merrimack Valley areas. For more information visit adultfamilycare.org, email AFC@eldercare.org, or call 617.440.0987.
