“This Time … Ukraine”
Two thousand twenty two
Images streaming from the Special Military Operation to our retinas
the videos the photos
the bodies the corpses the human non-beings
Each, a person
like any of us
a human life like ours
each, the node of a web of connections
somebody’s brother …
somebody’s son …
somebody’s spouse …
somebody’s next-door neighbor …
somebody’s niece …
somebody’s granddaughter …
somebody’s co-worker …
somebody’s grandfather …
somebody’s roommate …
somebody’s teacher …
somebody’s best friend …
somebody’s cousin …
somebody’s mother …
somebody’s child
And …someone
had the thought
that
they could end these lives
— Joseph Regna
