The View From Prospect Hill – January 5

What is a community that doesn’t take care of its own? In trouble, that’s what.
Fortunately, Somerville has a long history of looking out for its treasured landmarks. Help is needed at The Somerville Museum where they are trying to raise $55,000 to make long needed repairs on their 1925 building.

The Somerville Museum is a cornerstone of this community. Their exhibitions – including “Immigrant City” in 2007 and “Lost Theatres of Somerville” in 2003 – consistently examine what it means to live in Somerville today by exploring the lessons of the past. They provide invaluable insight to our community’s history and heritage with each exhibit.
The museum is working diligently to raise $55,000 by February 14 – money raised to that point will be matched by a state grant. They’ve gone public with their fundraising push and despite the tough economic conditions the museum deserves a donation from the community it has documented and inspired.
