Restaurant will instead emphasize outdoor patio dining and online takeout ordering

Daddy Jones Bar and Restaurant (http://daddyjonesbar.com), a lively restaurant offering outdoor dining, casual Greek food and burgers which has been a part of the Somerville community since 2012, is open for business and welcomes both its regular patrons and new customers.

The popular neighborhood restaurant located at 525 Medford Street will temporarily pause its indoor dining, however, due to the COVID restrictions but will continue its outdoor patio dining and online ordering for takeout. Owner Dimitra Murphy said that the outdoor patio dining has been extremely popular throughout the summer.

Murphy, a Somerville native whose Greek influence can be seen in many of the restaurant’s menu offerings, said that in light of the COVID Delta Variant and the recent mask mandate for indoor buildings being imposed by the City of Somerville, it makes sense to hold off adding indoor dining until a little later in the year when hopefully the variant is more under control.

 “We look forward to welcoming our patrons and friends back to the indoor dining area as soon as it is safe and practical to do so,” she said, adding, “However, we have a lot to offer to our customers in the meantime. We have a great outdoor patio for in-person dining which can accommodate up to 60 patrons, in an inviting open-air area.  She continued, “In addition, we have a brisk online ordering system for takeout, available on our website.”

 “We all want to get through this new wave as quickly and safely as possible, and we believe that the combination of our patio dining and online ordering will meet the dinner needs of our patrons,” Murphy said. “In the nine years that we have been here, our customers have become like family to us. We are so grateful for their support and we want to be here for them as well!”

 Daddy Jones serves dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The restaurant respectfully requests that patrons wear masks for takeout, pickup, and for bathroom access. There are no mask requirements for outdoor dining.

 Patio diners and take-out patrons can choose from a number of menu items including ZIki (yogurt dip served with cucumbers and warm pita), Red Pepper Feta, Falafel & Hummus, Sweet Potato Fries, Greek Salads, Gyro Wraps, Turkey Burger Lettuce Wrap, Daddy MacBurger, Athena Burger, Baklava, and more.

 Dimitra Murphy opened Daddy Jones Bar and Restaurant after having worked in the hospitality and restaurant industry in the Boston area for a number of years. The Boston University graduate worked with The Lyons Group to open several establishments, served as General Manager of The Alibi Bar & Lounge at the Liberty Hotel, and managed several other facilities. A lifelong Somerville resident, she is a former cross country coach for Somerville High School and holds a Real Estate License. She launched Daddy Jones, a 100% woman-owned business, in 2012.

 Daddy Jones Bar and Restaurant is a neighborhood restaurant offering casual dining with specialties in Greek and American cuisine. The restaurant has operated with a “community first” focus throughout its nine-year history, partnering with many community organizations and hiring a number of Somerville High School graduates over the years. Daddy Jones began as a small cocktail bar and under Dimitra Murphy’s leadership it has grown into a favorite place for Somerville and vicinity residents to come and enjoy a meal with friends and neighbors.

Daddy Jones offers mobile online ordering or counter ordering, as the restaurant does not use wait staff. Through the online ordering methods, the restaurant shares tips with all Daddy Jones team and the restaurant is proud to offer a liveable wage to employees and support the often forgotten Back Of House staff when it comes to the sharing of tips!
