A Boston man wanted in connection with the Nov. 28  stabbing on Flint Street turned himself in on Friday, police said.  Brian Maingrette, 18, of Roxbury had been the subject of a search by Somerville and Boston Police since Detective Paul Duffy obtained an arrest warrant for him on Nov. 30.  He surrendered himself at the Somerville District Court and was taken into custody by Somerville Police Officer Lance Covert, police said.

Police allege that Maingrette stabbed his brother-in-law on Flint Street after an argument between the victim and his wife, Maingrette’s sister, over child care issues. According to investigators, the victim left the house on Flint Street after the argument, followed by Maingrette. Moments later, witnesses saw the victim lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds as Maingrette was running away from the scene, police said.  The victim named Maingrette as the person who had stabbed him, police said.

Somerville and Boston Police had been actively searching for Maingrette for ten days.  Maingrette  is charged with armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  He will be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Monday.

Maingrette’s current girlfriend, Tyawna Grant, age 17, of Mattapan, was  arrested on December 3 after Detective Duffy obtained an arrest warrant for her for allegedly lying to investigators.  She is charged with misleading an investigator.
