Mrs. Florence E. “Chickie” (Sgroi) Pero, of Somerville and Harwichport, passed away surrounded by her daughters on January 29, 2021. Born and raised in Somerville, she was the cherished daughter of the late Anna (Alther) and Frank Sgroi.

Beloved wife of 47 years to late Walter F. Pero, Jr.

Devoted mother of Sarah M. Petitto and her husband Jim of North Reading, Emily K. Perrone and her husband Michael of Wakefield. Loving grandmother of Michael and Anthony Petitto and Julia Perrone. Dear daughter in law of Teresa M. Pero of Somerville.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville Wednesday 4pm-6pm. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interior capacity of the funeral home is limited to 25 people inside at any given time, we respectfully ask you to pay your respects and exit to allow others to do the same. Face masks and social distancing protocols required.

Funeral Service and burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.

Florence enjoyed her work as a Library Aide with the Somerville Public Schools for 15 years.
