Mobile Producer Kits

Somerville Media Center members may borrow kits containing everything that enables them to produce at home. The three kits are:

  • DSLR Kit containing a DSLR Camera, Microphone, Batteries
  • XA35 Kit containing a XA35 Camcorder, Microphone, Batteries
  • Editing Laptop with external Microphone and ready-to-go software: Zoom, Audacity, Final Cut ProX and DaVinci Resolve

  • February 24 at 6:00 p.m. Recording Audio at Home (Registration starts Jan. 22)
  • March 2 at 11:00 a.m. Digital Marketing with Social Media
  • March 3 at 6:00 p.m. Audio Editing with Audacity (Registration starts Jan. 22)
  • March 16 at 11:00 a.m. Build a User-Friendly Website with Wix

Boston Free Radio

We are migrating podcasts onto our new hosting site, Pinecast, which will provide each show with a custom website, analytics, and will publish podcasts to Spotify and Apple Podcasts. This is available to all current SMC members who produce podcasts for BFR – either in-studio or at-home.

Even in these uncertain times, productions are still under way. Check out the work from these members:

  • Poet to Poet, Writer to Writer – Doug Holder interviews poet and writer Kevin Carey about his crime novel “Murder in the Marsh.” Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m.
  • Dead Air Live – JoJo LaRiccia continues her “Somerville Connects” video and podcast series with this newest interview with entrepreneur Bobby Allen from Thryv. Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Let’s Talk About Race – Diane Wong and Pharaoh Saunders continue their video and podcast series with a discussion about the Racial Justice Collaborative. Sundays at 8:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 6:00 p.m.
  • The Somerville Labor Show – This newest episode produced by Ed Halloran, Jude Sylvan and Greg Hill highlights the work of Cambridge-based Acme Dry Ice and the high demand for their product as the COVID-19 vaccine begins to be distributed. Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:00 p.m.
