Construction crews will be working in the MBTA right-of-way adjacent to Granville Avenue (across from the future Ball Square Station) in Medford this weekend. The purpose of the work is to install a new storm drain line that will eventually run to Granville Ave. and tie into the line at Winchester St. at a later date.

Weekend work will begin Friday evening (Aug. 9) and will continue around the clock.  Depending on progress, the work could continue into the early morning hours of Monday (Aug. 12).

This work is expected to be noisy at times as crews will need to dig a 20-foot deep trench and drive metal sheeting to secure the trench.  Heavy equipment will be in motion. The timing of this activity is to take advantage of the commuter rail outage over the weekend.  The work can only be performed while train service is suspended.

We apologize for any disruption and appreciate your patience as we deliver this long-awaited transit project to the area.
