The OPENAIR Circus is opening its doors for its 33rd year of circus fun!

OPENAIR is a non-profit based in Somerville that teaches circus arts to children (and some adults) in an effort to promote leadership, self-esteem and an appreciate for arts and community.

They keep their prices low so that children and families of any background can join in the fun ($20/child or $30/family for the 6-week program, see www.openaircircus.org for more details).

Classes meet for 1 hour per week during Tuesday through Thursday, 4:30-7:30 p.m. and will begin June 26 and run through July 26. Online registration is targeted to open on June 17. They also have in-person registration available. Their rehearsals will be July 31-August 2 and the students will get to show off what they learned on August 3 at 7:00 p.m., August 4 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and August 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Before classes start, join in for the annual pancake breakfast on June 23 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at First Church Somerville UCC, 89 College Ave, Somerville. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to the OPENAIR Circus to meet others in the community and learn about the program and what to expect. It’s also a great opportunity for those who have taken part in the program in the past to reconnect while eating delicious food made by one of the board members. They’ll be serving pancakes, eggs, sausage, veggie patties, coffee and O.J. Tickets at the door will be $10/teen or adult (11 years old or older); $5/child (10 years old or younger); $25/family.
