Wednesday afternoon the home of Somerville Alderman J.T. Scott was damaged with fire in the back upper floor of his home.
Firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire at 269 Washington St and dealt with the heat of the day to put the fire under control.
No information at this time on what caused the fire.

Probably not a good idea carelessly leaving rags soaked with flammable liquids in a trash bag on your back porch… Especially if you’re having illegal construction work completed to your house without pulling the proper work permits. I wonder if the city plans on fining Mr. Scott for illegally operating a basement apartment out of 269?
Even if the city doesn’t care, I’m sure his home owners insurance will take notice of some of the things going on at 269 Washington St.
Mr. Scott – please let the voters of Ward 2 know the truth of where you reside. Help me understand how one can reside in two different towns at the exact same time, I’m confused? Seeing how you received a residential property tax exemption at 60 Dudley St in Chelsea, MA while running for office and claiming to be a resident of Ward 2. See where I’m going with this, it’s confusing isn’t it? I guess Mr. Scott thought if he created enough LLCs it would be difficult to trace. Wrong! Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones, or at the very minimum not commit fraud.
Mr. Scott – Best of luck trying to put a spin on tax and voter fraud to Channel 5, The Herald, The Globe and MyFoxBoston when they come knocking on your door for a quote. You better get George Regan’s PR firm on the phone, you’re going to need them.
Do you remember reading this before signing the exemption form?
“Signing this form under the penalties of perjury has the legal effect of swearing under oath to the truthfulness of the information contained here: All items on this form must be completed. In addition to other sanctions provided by law, intentional misrepresentation of facts in this application may result in cancellation of this exemption. I also give permission for The City of Chelsea to confirm my tax filing with the Department of Revenue in the State of Massachusetts.”
This reminds me of our mayor who was living in Wakefield when he first ran for office. Some things never change here.
