A Canton man was arrested in Davis Square Saturday after he allegedly threw a shot glass inside the Joshua Tree and called a police officer a “clown,” police said.

Aurimas Valionis, 30, of 735 Randolph St., Canton, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police said he refused to leave the Joshua Tree at closing time.

Officer Ernest Nadile Jr. tried to escort Valionis out but Valionis was too heavy to move, police said.

Valionis then threw a shot glass at the wall and ran out of the bar, police said. Nadile caught up to him in Davis Square and with the help of other officers handcuffed Nadile, police said.

As Valionis was handcuffed and waiting for transportation his friend, Paulius Pranckunas, 25, of 10 Winter Hill Circle, allegedly demanded police release Valionis.

Pranckunas allegedly told Nadile, “You [expletive] clown, let him go” and “That’s my friend you clown, let him go.”

Pranckunas was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
