By William Tauro Nearly a thousand Somerville residents lined up at the East Somerville Community School Monday evening for the distribution of bottled spring water. The water was complementary given out by Mayor Joseph Curtatone and the City of Somerville including DPW employees who volunteered their services for the evening. |
Over twelve-hundred cases of bottled water with twenty-four bottles per case were distributed by volunteers to residents who still under an MWRA water ban wait patiently for the ban to be lifted .
With repairs completed on the system that caused that massive MWRA water leak in Western Massachusetts, a 24-48 hour waiting period for the ban to be lifted still remains in effect.
Officials will lift the ban soon as clean water can cleanse the contaminated water through the repaired system to return it back to a normal status safe level.
