Residents may register to vote by visiting the Election Department at Somerville City Hall, calling 617-625-6600 x4200 to have a voter registration form mailed, or by going towww.registertovotema.com. Online applications require a valid ID issued by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), as well as a signature on file with the RMV.
This year the state primary election falls on a Thursday – different from the typical Tuesday election day – and there are limited races on the ballot. Voters will elect candidates to the offices of U.S. Representative in Congress, Councillor, Senator in General Court, Representative in General Court, and Sheriff.
As an additional note, the City would also like to remind residents that the voter registration deadline for the November 8, 2016, presidential election is Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 8 p.m.
