War movie: Charlie
What Charlie was like
cooked solid stoned
hollering in our apartment
trying on voices
‘marine tonight you die
marine tonight you die’
our red painted kitchen
trash bags overflowing
a hundred empty bottles
on the back porch floor
‘marine tonight you die
marine tonight you die’
windows too small to
show the stars or sky
we wanted to go to bed
but sat listening like cats
‘marine tonight you die
marine tonight you die’
can’t recall how we
got rid of him.
