Event to feature presentations and discussions on Green Line Extension, city's comprehensive planning process.

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and Executive Director of the Mayor's Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD) Monica Lamboy announced that the City will partner with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to host a SomerVision and Green Line Extension Open House on Saturday, June 12th from 10am-3pm at the Argenziano School, 290 Washington Street. The event will feature informational displays about the City's Comprehensive Planning Process. Presentations on the Green Line Extension project will outline designs for each future station including Union Square, Washington Street/Brickbottom, Ball Square and the proposed Maintenance Facility. The event is free and open to all members of the public.

"As we enter the Fiscal Year 2011 budget planning process, we are planning for today, with an eye on tomorrow. This open house is a great opportunity for community members to provide input on the Green Line Extension, and contribute to the SomerVision process that will help guide our policies and procedures surrounding planning and development projects for the next 20 years," Mayor Curtatone said.

"To truly benefit from the significant transit investment at the new Orange Line Station at Assembly Square and Green Line Extension, we need to identify and shape a united vision for the City's future," said Lamboy. "Where should more commercial development be located? What do we want to keep in our existing neighborhoods? What do we want to change? Where might new housing opportunities be located near future transit stations? These are only a few questions being considered in the Somerville Comprehensive Plan."
