Police officers on patrol last Friday morning took notice of a passing vehicle with an expired inspection sticker and followed it along Washington St.

After making a RMV query, it was learned that the vehicle had never undergone an inspection and that the registered owner had active warrants for various traffic violations.

The officers activated their emergency equipment and pulled the vehicle over.

The driver, Deanna Garceau, of Everett, furnished an identification card, but was not in possession of a valid drivers license.

As police ran her information via radio, officers reportedly noted that she was rifling through her purse as she waited in the vehicle.

After confirming Garceau warrants, she was removed from the vehicle and handcuffed.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, officers reportedly found several plastic straws that were cut into short pieces, as well as two knotted up plastic bags.

When asked whether she had any illegal drugs in her possession Garceau reportedly said that she did not.

Garceau then requested that police go into her handbag and get out her debit card so she could arrange for bail.

While looking for the card, police reportedly found a folded up receipt from McDonalds that had traces of a powdery substance on it.

When questioned about it, Garceau reportedly admitted that the substance was probably either cocaine or heroin.

She was subsequently charged with possession of a class A drug and also booked on warrant charges of uninsured motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
