The Republican challenger for the 27th Middlesex District, which includes the city’s Wards 3, 5, 6 and parts of Wards 2 and 4, received the endorsement of Citizens for Limited Taxation.

“CLT was founded in 1974 to combat excessive tax levies upon commonwealth citizens. Ms. Patricia Jehlen has voted to raise your taxes 32 times during her tenure,” said Dane Baird, a former Army officer, who will face Jehlen in the November election.

“That’s 32 times she’s inappropriately attempted to extract dollars from our hardworking citizens. She believes that government has all the answers to solve our society’s various social ills,” he said.

“I believe just the opposite. Government can’t solve everyones’ problems. Individual Americans know they, not the government, know how to best spend, invest and save their hard earned dollars,” he said.

“Jehlen is simply out of touch on this and many other key issues,” he said.

“CLT searches for candidates with informed backgrounds on taxes and what they mean for both businesses and households,” Baird said. He will receive financial support from tax watchdog organization help his campaign for election.
