The man struck by a Boston-bound Red Line train Jan. 26 is a 34-year-old bartender from Ireland named Phillip Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald, a Somerville resident, is surrounded by his family as doctors struggle to save his life, said a source close to the victim.
