Popular State Representative Tim Toomey is having a fund-raiser on May 24th at the Atasca Portuguese Restaurant and we already mentioned Register of Probate John Buonomo’s fund-raiser on the 26th of May at the Royal Sonesta.
All quiet on the State Senators seat these past couple of weeks. We already told you lots of people are entertaining the thought of running, but with a July deadline which is two months away, lots of polls will be taken. We heard of one poll that gives Pat Jehlen as having a good shot out of Somerville, but runs into trouble in other parts of the district. We also hear that one candidate – Governor’s Councilor Mike Callahan – is personally walking the district and is getting a positive reception. We know its going to come down to organizational skills, ID’ing voters and having the manpower to pull their votes out on election day. So far we would have to assume that Sean O’Donovan, with the help of the Administration, might have that edge. It’s a big district with lots of precincts to cover – it’s possible for someone to win this race with only 20% or less of the vote out there.
