The arts page editor of The Somerville News announced today that the paper will host its third annual writers festival Nov. 13 at Davis Square’s Somerville Theatre.

"We are very excited about the prospect of filling the Somerville Theatre’s 900 seats for what has become one of the biggest literary events in the Northeast," said Douglas Holder, the paper’s arts page editor and the author of the paper’s "Off the shelf" column. The Somerville Theatre is in Davis Square.

"We are also pleased to announce that Louisa Solano, the owner of the world famous all-poetry bookstore the "Grolier Poetry Book Shop" will be the recipient of the third annual Ibbetson Street Press Lifetime Achievement Award," he said.

"As the months go on, we will be releasing the names of the great masters of poetry and prose, who have agreed to join us this year," Holder said.

"Not only do we have Franz Wright, but we also have: Boston Globe columnist and author of "Gracefully Insane" Alex Beam, and Somerville resident and new head of the Iowa Writers Workshop: Lan Samantha Chang," he said.

"Sue Miller, the author of the book "The Good Mother," which was such a super a movie of the same name with Dianne Keaton, has agreed to read.

"We have also lined up, Hallie Ephron and Doc. Donald Davidoff," he said.

"Another advantage to the large venue, is that we can lower the ticket prices to make the festival more accessible for students," he said. The tickets will be $9 for all seats.
