Drug bust
By Andrea Gregory

Police got one of Somerville‚Äôs alleged drug dealers off the streets last week.
On Tuesday, Nov. 23 just before 5 p.m., police entered apartment 17 at 17 Bow St. Armed with a search warrant out of the Somerville District Court, police were able to gather enough evidence to charge Colin Gardinier, 33, with cocaine trafficking.

From his Bow Street apartment, police seized 122 clear plastic bags filled with a white powdery rock substance believed to be cocaine. During the search, police discovered drug paraphernalia that they say is involved with packaging drugs. The paraphernalia was taken into evidence. Also taken from the home was $826 in cash, two digital scales and a cell phone.
Police believed they had reason to search the Bow Street address following a joint investigation by both Somerville and Cambridge police drug units.
According to Somerville police, Gardinier was cooperative with authorities during the search of his residence. Police say he was also advised of his Miranda Rights. But Gardiner did not take advantage of his right to remain silent, which may have helped police to build an even stronger case against him.
‚ÄúI would note that defendant Gardinier made several incriminating statements and admissions post Miranda warnings,‚Äù wrote James Hyde in his police report. ‚ÄúA supplemental report will be filed upon completion of an inventory of all items seized as a result of the search. Inclusive in this report will be the admissions and statements made by defendant Gardinier post – Miranda warnings.‚Äù
