Somerville police are investigating a heist from the city’s Traffic and Parking Department this week, said Lt. Paul Upton.
The larceny took place sometime between Dec. 8 and Dec. 12 at the 133 Holland St. office of Traffic and Parking.
“There was a theft of money. It is being investigated and we are interviewing various individuals,” said Upton.

Upton would not disclose how much money had been stolen.
Three sources who work for the city and wished to remain anonymous said the robbery took in between $6,000 and $10,000.
Somerville’s Traffic and Parking Department reports directly to Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone. Thomas Champion, spokesman for Curtatone, said he had no information about the robbery.
Last month, Parking Director James Kotzuba told the Board of Aldermen that the Traffic and Parking Department will be $1.3 million short of its fiscal year 2006 revenue projection. The department is expected to take in $200,000 in fines resulting from the Dec. 9 snow emergency, when over 2,000 tickets were handed out to motorists.
