Three different law enforcement agencies worked together to seize a large shipment of marijuana today on Spring Street.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, with the assistance of the Medford Police and the Somerville Police, conducted a controlled delivery of a package allegedly containing ten pounds of marijuana.

When investigators delivered the package to the location in Medford, the female who signed for the package stated it was not for her but a third party. She cooperated with investigators by calling the individuals who wanted the package and arranging a meeting.

The parties agreed to meet in Somerville. Once they did, a Medford Police officer was in position to see the delivery of the package made to the suspects at the top of Spring Street.

After the transaction, the officer approached the vehicle and identified himself as a police officer. The suspect then allegedly sped directly towards the officer before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into several parked cars. Each suspect was then apprehended without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Police have not yet released the names of the suspects.
