Police were dispatched to the intersection of Willow Ave. and Broadway late last Friday night on reports that several individuals were engaged in a street brawl.
Upon arrival, the officers found three men struggling to hold one other man down on the ground, according to reports.
Inquiries revealed that the men attempting to restrain the individual on the ground were the owner of the Powderhouse Pub and two of his employees. The bar personnel were reportedly trying to hold the man until police arrived.
It was alleged that the man being held, Cord Deal, 21, of Medford, had smashed the plate glass window of the pub after being asked to leave the establishment.
Security personnel at the club reportedly told police that Deal had become belligerent in the bar and was asked to leave. Deal reportedly attempted to reenter the bar but was refused entry.
Witnesses told police that they observed Deal outside of the bar throwing a trash can to the ground.
Deal then reportedly hurled a rock through the club’s plate glass window, according to witness testimony.
Upon questioning, Deal reportedly admitted that he was asked to leave the club and that he tried to go back in and was turned away, but he said that he did not remember breaking the window.
Deal was placed under arrest and charged with destruction of property over $250.
