Roche focuses on Foss

Ward 1 Alderman William Roche is asking Acting Police Chief Robert R. Bradley to  address the issue of day laborers gathering each morning at Foss Park to be picked up by private contractors. Roche said there are regularly over 100 men in the park, on Bailey Road under Route 93, and the parking lot of a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts every morning.

"If this happened in Davis Square it wouldn’t be tolerated," Roche said. He said an effective plan would focus especially on the contractors who pick the men up.

Alderman-at-Large Denise Provost agreed that something had to be done.

"This problem is snowballing and intensifying throughout the city," Provost said.
