Two teenage boys wearing red bandanas over their faces robbed a woman at knife point Wednesday, May 16, allegedly demanding “iPods or cell phones” at the corner of Putnam and Summer Streets.

The woman gave up cash and a pack of Newport cigarettes to the two boys who fled the scene, police said. Police responded and the victim sat in the back of the cruiser describing the assailants as police searched.

The victim allegedly told police the boys were both very young with short hair. One of the boys was allegedly carrying a green or white plastic bag, police said she told them. As the victim spoke two young shirtless males were seen walking past the Irish Eyes bar. The boys fit the description given to police by the victim and one was even carrying a green and white plastic bag.

Police stopped the boys and allegedly found in their possession a red bandana and a pack of Newport cigarettes. In the cigarette box was more than tobacco, police allegedly found a marijuana cigarette.

Police said during a search of the area they found a knife close to where the boys had been walking. The boys were arrested and charged with masked armed robbery and possession of a class D drug. They are 13 and 14 years old.
